These Terms of Use govern your use of the Sakinah mobile application (“Sakinah”, “the app”) published by Prolific Digital Tech Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17362828). By downloading or using Sakinah, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.

Questions: support@sakinah.app

1. The service

Sakinah is a personal Islamic companion app. It includes, among other features:

Sakinah does not provide religious rulings (fatwa). Prayer times and content are provided for convenience; verify important matters with qualified scholars where needed.

2. Optional account

You may use most features without an account. Sign-in is optional and enables cloud sync for selected data (journal, salah log, learn progress, and settings) via Clerk and Convex. If you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account (or the minimum age required in your country, if higher). Where parental consent is required by law, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access for material breaches of these terms.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of content you create in Sakinah (journal entries, notes, logs, and similar personal records). You grant us a limited licence to store and process that content solely to provide the service — including syncing when you are signed in.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Core Sakinah features are available without payment. Optional subscriptions, credits, one-time unlocks, and paid courses may be offered in the app. Purchases on iOS and Android are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play under their respective terms; web purchases (where available) are processed through our payment provider.

Prices, renewals, and cancellation options are shown in the app before you buy. Manage or cancel App Store / Play subscriptions in your device account settings. Manage web billing from Profile → Billing when available.

6. Intellectual property

Qur'an text is not subject to copyright. Third-party Qur'an translations, audio recitations, and fonts remain the property of their respective providers and are used under applicable licences or public terms.

The Sakinah app (design, branding, and code) is owned by Prolific Digital Tech Ltd. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on your devices for personal, non-commercial use.

7. Third-party services

Sakinah relies on third-party services (including Clerk, Convex, AlQuran Cloud, OpenStreetMap, and audio hosts). Your use of those services may be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party websites or services outside our control.

8. Disclaimers

Sakinah is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that prayer times or content will meet every personal requirement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Prolific Digital Tech Ltd will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Sakinah. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or GBP £10 if the app was free).

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

10. Termination and account deletion

You may stop using Sakinah at any time. You may delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account), which removes your Clerk sign-in and associated cloud data (preferences, journal, salah, learn, friends, billing/credits, and related account rows) as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms or if required by law.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the updated version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms where permitted by law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country give you the right to bring claims in your local courts.
